Paige

I had to run to my computer and type out Lincoln talking the other night cause I knew the words would get lost somewhere in the pile of dirty dishes waiting to be loaded, the conversation would fall out of my brain and into the saggy bottomed diaper that needs changing, the memory softly reminding me to call friends that I'm bad at making time for, the loading kids in and out of cars, the supervising of homework, the answering of literally a million questions about what we are doing next and what the menu looks like for the rest of the day, the planning out a menu so I actually have an answer, the sweeping the floor, and washing up old milk spills, the loading up backpacks and making sure library books are included, the realization that it's time to rush to the bus stop so the bus driver doesn't get mad at us again, and not to mention the mountains of laundry that need to get put away what feels like all the time, the words would have never made it to this page had I not rushed right over and typed exactly what he said. It wasn't a long rambling, or even extremely significant, it was just one I knew I'd want to remember, like how I want to remember shortly after he was potty trained and the urge hit he would exclaim 'my timer is going off'. Maybe I'm remembering him littler because I feel like I am getting so many glimpses of what life will be like, who am I kidding, what life is like as my boy is turning into a man right before my eyes. But for now this is what went down, and so matter-of-factly (Paige is a girl in his class)...

'Paige is funny sometimes she calls me funny names like fish, that's why I like her cause she calls me funny names. sometimes she doesn't say nice things but I like her.'

Costco Employee

We were running a few errands today while Hailey was at preschool. It is amazing how simple running in and out of stores can be without that spirited 3 year old! One of the stops was at Costco and while we were checking out, Lincoln helped load things to get checked out, then he put the divider up after our stuff and the worker gal was so impressed/tickled by him. She started chatting away with the kids and talking about how 'when you turn 18 you need to come back here and apply for a job because you are such a good worker'. Well the kids then went on to explain that 'we are twins and that our birthdays are on September 13th and our other sister Hailey is 3 and at preschool, and this is Taylor, her birthday is May 13th and we are in kindergarten but we go in the afternoon', you know, normal conversations with strangers...right? As we said goodbye to our new best friend Lincoln sighed to himself and under his breath says "I need to come back here when I'm 18". My favorite things he says are said under his breath, and this was no exception!

Birthday Celebration pt 1.

The Birthday Kids!
Since the kids are in afternoon Kindergarten I decided to make the morning a little special since they did add another year to their life! It started with pancakes for breakfast, P, L and 6 pancakes to be exact! And Jer had the genius idea to have them be dunkers so I didn't have to cut them up.

What could it be?

A couple new games for our little game lovers :) Yeah they're definitely my kids!

Home from school with their birthday goodies

We ended up having a little family dinner where Grandma Tammi, Cody (for a little bit), my mom, dad, Grandma (who just moved here from Kentucky), and Markie came over for dinner and a few presents.
One of my favorite things was getting to eat our first big meal on our new table!!! It's the little things right?

Jer made Grandpa's delicious salmon!
And it was a huge hit!

I am absolutely loving that my Grandma is here for these celebrations...everything seems so right!

I loved this picture of every ones faces

Oh yeah

One happy girl!

And then the gift that was weird to wrap...

Yeah...we might potentially win America's Funniest Home Video's...I just have to keep the camera rolling.

Let the adventures begin!

Look at the joy on that face

So stinking happy!

They look so much alike right here!

My four adventure seekers!

And this picture gives me more grey hair every time I look at it...I can see them in high school all too easily!

Okay there may be more grey hair because of this picture! Such a happy little girl!

I caught him looking at himself in the mirror, talking to himself about how amazing his muscles are! He is seriously so funny!

If you haven't heard we threw a circus party on Sunday and I have yet to start working on that post so stay tuned...

Happy 6th Birthday!

I can't believe my sweet little 5lb9oz Payden and 5lb15oz Lincoln are now 6 years old!
I woke up the morning of September 13th 2005 (if you can call what I did sleeping at that point) feeling a normal sense of uncomfortableness that had been lingering for months...completely due the the two people God was knitting together inside of me. Callie had stayed the night because of an event she was helping with up at camp. I made us some scrambled eggs and then she headed back to Portland. At 2 that afternoon I had a non-stress-test scheduled to make sure baby A and baby B were still responding normally to sharing the space. Baby A (Payden) was smaller than baby B (Lincoln) and they didn't know if that was just a normal thing for these two siblings, or if baby B was getting more nutrients than his twin sister.
Before heading down the mountain I decided to take a shower, do my makeup and pack my hospital bag...you know, just in case. Jer had been wonderful and gone with me to as many appointments as he could and this specific appointment he had a meeting at the same time. So when I went to my appointment it all started very normally. Pee in a cup, blood pressure checked (it was really high) get comfy on the bed to get all the monitors hooked up to check two heartbeats and contractions. Once everything was ready they asked if I could feel the contractions, at this point my skin was always on fire and I felt like I was going to rip in two so I didn't really notice a difference in uncomfortably and once it was pointed out I could kind of notice contractions when they were happening.
The pee results came back and there was protein in my urine which meant, combined with high blood pressure that I had preeclampsia, a pregnancy related high blood pressure condition that is really only 'cured' with the delivery of the babies. So at that point my doctor came in, to check me and the position of the babies. I had so badly wanted to deliver them myself but she wasn't comfortable with that since Payden was breach, and Lincoln was transverse. We talked about transferring me to Portland or Eugene but she was doubtful that other Dr.s would be willing to try. So I called Jer to let him know it looked like we were having babies later on that day (this was about 4:15) and he gathered his stuff quickly and started down the mountain...but then his motorcycle got a flat tire and some friends let him drive their car down to the hospital.  We decided to go ahead with the c-section and I started getting prepped for that, called Jer again but his phone wasn't working, then called the parents and sounded the alert.
When Jer got to the hospital I was so excited to see him, he had a video camera in his hand that our family had gifted us, and was making our own baby story. That was when I told him we were having our babies very soon! It was pretty exciting. I then got taken to the delivery room and Jer had to wait outside while I got the spinal. He was going to be taking pictures of the delivery because our new camcorder did that but accidentally started recording the whole thing, which you are not allowed to do. So at 5:43pm Payden breathed the breath of life and was followed at 5:44pm by Lincoln.

Here are some pictures of the day, all the way through our whole week at the hospital and first few days at home.

and meeting my handsome son!
And our first family picture
Lincoln's temperature dropped a little too much so Jer did some skin to skin contact while I was in recovery.

Lincoln on the left with Payden on the right...they were too sleepy to be interested in feeding much so we had a feeding tube in to help add some supplementing while they nursed.

I thought I was pretty funny putting little tiny Payden in my big ole bed!

Cuddling in the bed with mommy

Feeling like I'm getting the hang of this twin thing :)

This was our birth announcement picture, all comfy at home as a little family of 4!

Daddy is quite captivating, well he is pretty handsome so I don't blame them for staring.

In the cradle together, it didn't last very long.
